Blog Entry: Breaking Through the Mental Barrier

Today I had one of those “aha” moments that hit you right in the chest.

I’ve been following the playbook strategy I've spent quite some time co-creating with ChatGPT — moving money from my primary account into a Cash ISA, a S&S ISA, and a SIPP.

At first, truth be told, it felt a bit strange. Every time I saw my bank balance go down after a transfer, my brain would fire warning sirens. “You’re losing money!” in red flashing neon.

But today, something clicked.

I realised my balance isn’t going down because I’m losing money — it’s going down because I’m allocating money. I’m putting money to work.

I am seeing my pots slowly growing. I see incremental interest payments landing in my cash ISA, and that little dopamine kick when I log in and check those numbers is starting to replace the old panic I've been feeling.

My Monday GILT buy routine is becoming second nature. My phone alarm goes off at 11:15, I pull over during my mandatory break, and by 11:30 the trade is done — no drama, no stress, just a couple of taps on the phone screen and it's done.

What’s even more exciting is seeing how momentum is building. The more I do it, the easier it gets. And the easier it gets, the more motivated I am to keep going. I’m starting to feel like my assets and investments are awakening, stretching their legs, and one day they’re going to work hard enough to pay me a living wage.

That’s the dream — to build this money engine so that one day it runs at full throttle and I can downshift into a life where I’m no longer trading time for money.

For the first time, I’m not just reading about investing, I’m living it. And I’m really starting to enjoy it.
