Easy entry

I got the job

Calor are giving me a chance to join their LPG domestic and commercial tanker deliveries

I am quite excited and nervous about this

I can't wait to level up, become more skilled, learn some new stuff, take on more responsibility, earn more cash, advance within this road haulage sector, work for a recognised brand, represent the company and put my £600 ADR training to use within little over a month of picking up the accreditation

I am quietly hoping the stories I've heard about getting access to customer fuel tanks isn't half as bad as they've made out

I've had to navigate my way to some tight places and up some really unfriendly terrain. But doing it all day every day might be my biggest challenge

I've taken wagons places wagons have zero business going

I take wagons up Unsuitable For HGV lanes quite often and I think I will be doing this even more

I have to wonder, working out of the depot I have been based at, how many butt clenching rural deliveries I will actually be doing

It would be marvellous if most of my runs contained commercial properties

It that case I wouldn't be getting any superior driving experience navigating tough terrain, but I would still be getting the ADR experience required to lift my career

I am hopeful the team is sound. So far the people I have come into contact with are alright

I want to ace the training and pick up everything I need to know to become a valued member of the team

The training kicks off on Monday

I will initially be working 41 miles away. I have been offered a mileage allowance for this at 45p/mile. That's a decent £36.90 each day, so it's worth my while. It doesn't cover wear and tear, but it does cover my fuel and then some

I don't really know how many days I will be training out of Stoney Stanton yet, but the preliminary set up will involve commuting to the local branch then driving a tanker over the the main depot for filling

42.7 miles from depot to depot, 1 hour drive. I need to know if I can start before 6am. I'd like to be loaded and leaving Stoney Stanton depot by 7:30. The issue for me will be sitting in 7-9am traffic most of the morning, but it might be alright

I know the M42 is shit come 7am heading into Brum so the more I can stay off it the better, at least til 10, then the rest is easy flowing until around 2:30-3pm

I say this but the days are going to be long, up to 15 hours long. But avoiding traffic will help me streamline my deliveries and be time efficient

4 on 4 off is going to help me a great deal even if I do not realise it yet. Mon - Thur working then Fri - Mon off? Tue - Fri working then Sat - Tue off? and so on ... this is going to be okay, although there will be a WTFS, TFSS, FSSM, SSMT, SMTW which it 5 weeks infringing on my weekends, but as I don't do shit at the weekend, I don't really care

I need to find something to get on with on my 4 days off

I don't know if the weather is going to help me but getting my garden project completed would be bloody awesome

However, the amount of cash I can rack up over the next 21+ weeks is pretty good
